Calculations

Every financial calculation the club uses, as jointly defined with Savers Club — the formula, the abbreviations it uses, what each variable means, and a worked example. 31 entries across 7 categories.

Member — Capital

Total Share Capital

TSC

A member's running Share Capital balance — grows with contributions and reinvested dividends, shrinks with withdrawals.

TSC = Initial Share Capital + Σ CBU + Σ Reinvested Dividends − Σ Withdrawals

Worked example

Initial Share Capital₱5,000.00

Σ CBU (contributions this year)₱58,000.00

Σ Reinvested Dividends₱0.00

Σ Withdrawals₱3,000.00

TSC₱60,000.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

Initial Share Capital
The fixed minimum amount every member must contribute to join, set by club-wide policy. Separate from the Membership Fee.
CBU
An individual transaction where a member voluntarily adds to their Share Capital.
Reinvested Dividends
A member's Total Dividend, added back into their Share Capital instead of taken as cash.
Withdrawals
An amount a member takes out of their Share Capital. TSC drops by the full amount; the club retains 3% of it in cash (see 3% Retention).

Average Share Capital

ASC

The average of a member's TSC across the fixed Dec–Nov saving-year window, not a rolling last-12-months figure.

ASC = (TSC at each month-end, Dec through Nov) ÷ 12

Worked example

Dec 2025 – Nov 2026 TSC (12 month-ends)10,000 → 15,000 → 35,000 → 30,000 → 40,000 → 45,000 → 50,000 → 45,000 → 50,000 → 55,000 → 65,000 → 60,000

Sum of the 12 values₱500,000.00

ASC₱41,666.67

From docs/savers-club-calculations-developer.md — the same worked example given there.

TSC
The member's Share Capital balance, snapshotted at each of the 12 month-ends.

Interest On Capital

IOC

A member's share of the dividend pool set aside for capital, proportional to their ASC relative to every other member's.

IOC = (ASC ÷ Σ ASC across all members) × Net Amount for IOC

Worked example

Member's ASC₱41,666.67

Σ ASC across all members₱2,500,000.00

Net Amount for IOC₱318,246.72

IOC₱5,304.11

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

ASC
The member's own ASC.
Net Amount for IOC
60% of the branch's Net Amount for Dividend for the saving year — see the Dividend Pool Waterfall.

Capital Build Up

CBU

An individual transaction where a member adds money to their Share Capital.

Not a computed figure — CBU is the term for a contribution transaction (additions only; a withdrawal is a separate kind of transaction).

Member — Loans

Loaned Amount

LA

The amount availed (borrowed) by the member for a given loan. Also called Principal Loan.

Maximum LA = (2 × live TSC at application time) − Existing Outstanding Balance(s)

LA itself is the amount actually approved, up to this cap. An over-cap loan can still be approved at a discretionary 3% interest rate (instead of the standard 2%), but only by a Manager or Super Admin, and only if funds remain after every pending application is served.

Worked example

Live TSC at application₱60,000.00

Existing outstanding balance(s)₱0.00

Maximum LA₱120,000.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

TSC
The member's live TSC at the moment of application, not a saving year-end snapshot.
Existing Outstanding Balance(s)
The member's remaining balance(s) on any other loan(s) at the time of application.

Loan Insurance Premium

LIP

A 1% premium deducted from every loan at approval, kept in the branch's own segregated insurance fund rather than folded into general club income or the yearly dividend pool.

LIP = LA × 1%

Deducted from what's disbursed, not from what the member owes — the member's Loan Remaining Balance is still the full LA.

Worked example

Approved LA₱120,000.00

LIP₱1,200.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

LA
The Loaned Amount approved for this loan.

Payment on Principal Loan

PoPL

The portion of a member's payment applied against a loan's Principal.

Not a computed figure — the treasurer manually allocates how much of a payment counts as PoPL vs. PIOL when recording it.

Total Payment on Principal Loan

TPoPL

The running sum of every PoPL transaction recorded against a loan so far.

TPoPL = Σ PoPL (every payment recorded against this loan, to date)

Worked example

PoPL payments recorded so far₱5,000.00 + ₱5,000.00 + ₱5,000.00

TPoPL₱15,000.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

PoPL
A single payment transaction applied to principal.

Loan Remaining Balance

LRB

How much Principal is still owed on a loan. Updates immediately with each new PoPL.

LRB = LA − TPoPL

Worked example

LA₱50,000.00

TPoPL₱15,000.00

LRB₱35,000.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

LA
The original amount borrowed for this loan.
TPoPL
Everything paid toward principal on this loan so far.

Member — Interests

Payment Interest On Loans

PIOL

The portion of a member's payment applied against interest owed on a loan.

Not a computed figure — same mechanics as PoPL: the treasurer manually allocates how much of a payment counts as PIOL vs. PoPL.

Loan Interest (Accrual)

LIA

How much interest becomes due on a loan each month — diminishing balance, applied to the current LRB.

Monthly Interest = Rate × current LRB

The approval month itself never accrues interest; accrual starts the 1st of the following month, first charge due at that month's end.

Worked example

Rate2% monthly

Current LRB₱35,000.00

Monthly Interest₱700.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

Rate
2% monthly by default. 3% only applies to a loan approved over the member's borrowing cap, and only a Manager or Super Admin can approve one at that rate — never a free choice on an ordinary loan. Fixed for the life of the loan either way.
LRB
The principal still owed at the time of that month’s accrual, not the original LA.

Total Interest On Loan

TIOL

A running balance of interest still owed on a loan — the interest-side counterpart to LRB. Not to be confused with IOC (a dividend concept).

TIOL = Σ (monthly interest accrued on this loan so far) − TPIOL

Worked example

Σ monthly interest accrued so far₱3,500.00

TPIOL₱2,100.00

TIOL₱1,400.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

TPIOL
Everything paid toward interest on this loan so far.

Total Payment Interest On Loans

TPIOL

The total a member has paid toward a loan’s interest, all-time since the loan started.

TPIOL = Σ PIOL (every interest payment recorded against this loan, all-time)

Worked example

PIOL payments recorded so far₱700.00 × 3 payments

TPIOL₱2,100.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

PIOL
A single payment transaction applied to interest.

Average Paid Interest On Loans

APIOL

The average of a member's cumulative interest paid at each month-end of the fixed Dec–Nov saving-year window — the same running-total shape as ASC, so paying earlier in the year counts for more. The running total resets each December.

APIOL = (cumulative interest paid at each month-end, Dec through Nov) ÷ 12

Worked example

Interest payments₱700 (Dec), ₱700 (Jan), ₱500 (Feb), ₱500 (Mar)

Dec–Nov cumulative snapshots (12 month-ends)700 → 1,400 → 1,900 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400 → 2,400

Sum of the 12 values₱25,600.00

APIOL₱2,133.33

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

PIOL
The member's running total of interest paid this saving year, snapshotted at each of the 12 month-ends. Starts from zero every December — prior years' interest never carries over.

Patronage Refund

PR

A member's share of the dividend pool set aside for interest paid, proportional to their APIOL relative to every other member's.

PR = (APIOL ÷ Σ APIOL across all members) × Net Amount for PR

Worked example

Member's APIOL₱2,133.33

Σ APIOL across all members₱128,000.00

Net Amount for PR₱212,164.48

PR₱3,536.07

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

APIOL
The member's own APIOL.
Net Amount for PR
40% of the branch's Net Amount for Dividend for the saving year — see the Dividend Pool Waterfall.

Member — Dividends

Total Dividends

TD

A member's total dividend payout for the saving year.

Total Dividend = IOC + PR

Bylaws Article XII §7: 10% is retained by default and added to the member's Capital Build Up for the next saving year, 90% released as cash — unless the member is already at the 25% capital-share cap, in which case the full amount is released as cash. The Treasurer may release a different amount, but anything below the 10%-retained default is flagged as a deviation from policy.

Worked example

IOC₱5,304.11

PR₱3,536.07

Total Dividend₱8,840.18

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

IOC
The member's capital-side dividend share.
PR
The member's interest-side dividend share.

Club Asset — Money In

Dividend Pool Waterfall

DPW

The branch-wide chain from this year's interest income down to the two pools IOC and PR are split from.

GI = Σ across all members of (TPIOL as of this Nov − TPIOL as of last Dec) + OI
NI = GI − Expenses
SR = NI × 20%
NAD = NI − SR
Net Amount for IOC = NAD × 60%
Net Amount for PR = NAD × 40%

The 20% and 60/40 splits are the client-confirmed defaults — since Aug 2026 a branch's Board can adjust them, and each finished saving year keeps the exact rates it was computed with.

Worked example

GI₱689,014.00

Expenses₱26,000.00

NI₱663,014.00

SR (20% of NI)₱132,602.80

NAD₱530,411.20

Net Amount for IOC / PR₱318,246.72 / ₱212,164.48

Golictop branch, SY2025 — real figures from the source file, per docs/savers-club-calculations-developer.md. This branch had no Other Income that year, so GI here is loan interest alone.

GI
The branch's total loan-interest income for the saving year (Dec–Nov window), plus Other Income — bylaws Article XII §4 defines the dividend base as income "from loans and other services," not loan interest alone.
OI
Other Income — non-loan income for the same saving year window. No dedicated ledger yet; a manually supplied figure until a future Transactions module tracks it directly.
Expenses
The club's total operating expenses for the saving year.
NI
Gross Income minus Expenses.
SR
20% of Net Income, set aside before any dividend is calculated.
NAD
Net Income minus this year’s Statutory Reserve addition — the pool actually distributed to members.

Total Forfeited Dividends

TFD

The sum of the Total Dividend that would otherwise have been paid to members whose dividend is forfeited for the saving year — redirected into the Statutory Reserve balance instead of paid out.

TFD = Σ across every forfeited member of that member's own Total Dividend (IOC + PR) for this saving year

A member's dividend is forfeited for the saving year if they went 2 straight months without making a payment on their loan. IOC and PR are still computed normally for a forfeited member — only where their own dividend ends up changes.

Worked example

Member A's Total Dividend (missed Aug + Sep)₱4,200.00

Member B's Total Dividend (missed Mar + Apr)₱2,850.00

TFD₱7,050.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

TD
A forfeited member's own IOC + PR for the saving year, still computed normally.

Statutory Reserve (Balance)

SRB

The club's running Statutory Reserve — accumulates every year's addition plus that year's forfeited dividends, never reset.

SR Balance (this year) = SR Balance (last year) + SR (this year's addition) + Total Forfeited Dividends (this year)

Worked example

SR Balance (last year)₱400,000.00

SR (this year's addition)₱132,602.80

Total Forfeited Dividends (this year)₱7,050.00

SR Balance (this year)₱539,652.80

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

SR (this year's addition)
20% of this saving year’s Net Income — see the Dividend Pool Waterfall.
TFD
This year's dividends withheld from members who missed 2 straight months of payment.

Statutory Reserve — Interest on Capital / Officer Honoraria

SR-IOC

The Statutory Reserve itself earns a share of the same Interest on Capital pool real members do — bylaws Article XII §8: "The Statutory Reserve (SR) for the fiscal year shall likewise earn an Interest on Capital (IOC)." What it earns funds honoraria for the Manager/CEO, Treasurer, Auditor, and other officers as approved by the Executive Board.

SR-IOC = (SR's own ASC-equivalent ÷ Σ ASC across all members and the SR) × Net Amount for IOC

Confirmed formula, not yet built into the app — implementing it changes every existing member's actual IOC payout, since the pool now splits with the Statutory Reserve too, not just real members. The bylaws leave the honoraria split between officers to the Executive Board's discretion, not a formula.

Worked example

SR's own ASC-equivalent (last year's SR Balance)₱400,000.00

Σ ASC across all members and the SR₱2,900,000.00

Net Amount for IOC₱318,246.72

SR-IOC (Officer Honoraria Fund)₱43,896.24

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

SR's own ASC-equivalent
Since the Statutory Reserve only grows once a year (at fiscal-year close, not ongoing transactions), this works out to last saving year's closing Statutory Reserve Balance, held flat across all 12 months — the same logic used for a member with zero transactions in the window.
Net Amount for IOC
60% of the branch's Net Amount for Dividend for the saving year — see the Dividend Pool Waterfall.

Total Capital Share of All Members

TCSAM

The sum of every member's current TSC. Excludes the Statutory Reserve balance.

Total Capital Share = Σ TSC across all members

Worked example

Σ TSC across all members₱2,650,000.00

Total Capital Share₱2,650,000.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

TSC
Each member's own running Share Capital balance.

Total Member's Paid Interest on Regular Loan

TMPI

The club's all-time cumulative interest collected from members, as of saving year-end — distinct from GI, which is only this year's interest.

Total Paid Interest = Σ across all members of TPIOL (all-time), as of Nov

Worked example

Σ TPIOL (all-time) across all members, as of Nov₱1,845,392.50

Total Member's Paid Interest₱1,845,392.50

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

TPIOL
Each member's all-time interest paid, summed across every loan.

3% Retention from Members' Withdrawal

TPR

The club keeps 3% of every withdrawal amount; the member receives the other 97% in cash.

Retention (per withdrawal) = Withdrawal Amount × 3%
3% Retention (saving year) = Σ Retention across every withdrawal in the Dec–Nov window

Worked example

Example single withdrawal₱10,000.00 → retention ₱300.00, member receives ₱9,700.00

Σ withdrawals in the Dec–Nov window₱180,000.00

3% Retention (this saving year)₱5,400.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

Withdrawal Amount
The amount a member withdraws from their Share Capital in a single transaction.

Invested Money

IM

The club's money placed into some form of investment, for the saving year.

Not a computed figure — recorded directly via its own transaction type, scoped to the saving year (not a running balance).

Total Club Asset

TCA

The sum of the five Club Asset items above.

Total Club Asset = Statutory Reserve (Balance)
+ Total Capital Share of All Members
+ Total Member's Paid Interest on Regular Loan
+ 3% Retention from Members' Withdrawal
+ Invested Money

Mixes two running balances, one all-time snapshot, and two saving-year-only flows — matches how the source spreadsheet computed it.

Worked example

Statutory Reserve (Balance)₱532,602.80

Total Capital Share of All Members₱2,650,000.00

Total Member's Paid Interest on Regular Loan₱1,845,392.50

3% Retention from Members' Withdrawal₱5,400.00

Invested Money₱50,000.00

Total Club Asset₱5,083,395.30

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

SRB
The club’s running reserve total.
TCSAM
The sum of every member’s TSC.
TMPI
All-time interest collected from members.
TPR
This year’s total withdrawal retention.
IM
This year’s total money invested.

Club Outflows — Money Out

Loan Balance Collectibles

LBC

Total collectibles from members — remaining principal plus remaining interest — across all loans, as of saving year-end.

Loan Balance Collectibles = Σ across all loans of (LRB + TIOL), as of Nov

No 2% multiplier is actually applied, despite the "(2%)" in the item’s traditional name.

Worked example

Σ (LRB + TIOL) across all loans, as of Nov₱890,450.00

Loan Balance Collectibles₱890,450.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

LRB
Principal still owed on a loan.
TIOL
Interest still owed on a loan.

Cash in Bank (GCash)

CIB

The amount currently in the treasurer's GCash account.

Not a computed figure — how this balance accumulates through the saving year is still being defined.

Cash on Hand

COH

The physical cash amount currently in the treasurer's hands.

Not a computed figure — how this balance accumulates through the saving year is still being defined.

Expenses

E

The club's total operating expenses for the saving year (Dec–Nov window).

Not a computed figure — recorded directly via an expense ledger. Same figure used as Expenses in the Dividend Pool Waterfall.

Total Club Outflows

TCO

The sum of the four Club Outflows items above.

Total Club Outflows = Loan Balance Collectibles + Cash in Bank (GCash) + Cash on Hand + Expenses

Worked example

Loan Balance Collectibles₱890,450.00

Cash in Bank (GCash)₱120,000.00

Cash on Hand₱35,000.00

Expenses₱26,000.00

Total Club Outflows₱1,071,450.00

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

CIB
The treasurer’s GCash balance.
COH
The treasurer’s physical cash balance.
Expenses
The saving year’s total operating expenses.

Other

Membership Fee

MF

The flat amount a new member pays to join the club — separate from Share Capital. This is the forward-looking rule for setting next year’s fee.

Membership Fee (next saving year) = Statutory Reserve Balance ÷ Total Members

Both figures are taken as of this saving year-end.

Worked example

Statutory Reserve Balance₱532,602.80

Total Members500

Membership Fee (next saving year)₱1,065.21

Illustrative numbers, not real client data.

SRB
The club’s running reserve total, not just this year’s addition.
Total Members
The club’s total membership count as of saving year-end.
